This change does not cure problem #1, but that's not a big deal since, in my understanding, NI's copy protection has been somewaht circumvented anyway - not sure if the newest NI service center stuff is more robust or not. I've had to turn a few of these away, including people who owned the original GVI versions, who'd otherwise get free crossgrades. This was detrimental for two reasons:ī) Non-Kontakt (full version) owners were unable to use my products without owning Kontakt. Point of View: I see an improvement in the situation - licensing of the Kontakt Player 2 was not necessarily prohibitively expensive, but included other clauses that made it somewhat out of reach. If this is correct, I see two perspectives:ġ) My own, that of the small indie developer. Their website appears to be down atm, so I cn't test, but from the e-mail, it would appear that this version of the player is compatible both with "Powered by Kontakt Player" libraries, as well as other (.nki. I just recieved a promotional e-mail from NI which stated, among other things, that the Kontakt Player 3 was available on their site for free.
